Caribbean Fruit Network (CARIFRUIT)

Goal
The goal of CARIFRUIT is to contribute to an improvement in the economic viability and sustainability of the fruit industry in the Caribbean by fostering an inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary approach.

Purpose
The promotion and support of national and regional co-operation in technology, R&D, marketing and the distribution of selected fruit crops; and to promote greater utilisation of fruits grown in the Caribbean at the national, regional and international levels.

Approach/Strategy
Assist NNC to develop the national and regional fruit sector in a manner that ensures efficient marketing and processing.

Outputs
- NNCs developed and collaborated in support of the development of the fruit industry.
- Trained researchers, technicians and farmers and improved research management.
- New and/or improved technologies adopted by economic players.
- Information products such as publications, technical packets, standards and reports of research studies spanning the commodity chain produced and distributed to stakeholders.
- Stronger competitive fruit sector evidenced by increased earnings for economic players.
