PROCICARIBE is part of a hemispheric and world-wide effort to facilitate cooperation in agriculture. Hemispherically, PROCICARIBE participates in FORAGRO together with PROCIANDINO, PROCISUR, PROCITROPICOS and SICTA. Globally, PROCICARIBE is linked to the Global Forum for Agricultural research GFAR and the NARS Steering Committee in Rome. The Consultative Groups for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and many other International Organizations of excellence are strong Strategic Alliance Partners with Caribbean NARS through PROCICARIBE. GFAR - Global Forum on Agricultural Research
GFAR is a multi-stakeholder initiative that contributes to eradicating poverty, achieving food security, and conserving and managing natural resources. It enhances national capacities to generate, adapt and transfer knowledge. GFAR's work program supports the evolution of the development-aid concept towards that of full partners with common interests collaborating for mutual benefits. The NARS of the developing countries along with their regional and subregional fora are the cornerstones of the global agricultural research system that GFAR aims to create.

NARS Secretariat - National Agricultural Research Systems
The NARS Steering Committee (NARS-SC) is a subcommittee of the GFAR Steering Committee. The NARS-SC, also supported by the GFAR Secretariat, works to strengthen the collective voice of developing-country NARS in setting and implementing a global agricultural research agenda. The NARS-SC is composed of the chairpersons of the NARS regional fora on agricultural research of Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, West Asia and North Africa and Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Forum of Agricultural Research and Technological Development
FORAGRO is a mechanism to facilitate and foster dialogue and cooperation among the countries of the Region, and to promote integration in this field. Its work is aimed at achieving a type of agricultural development that will be competitive and sustainable, in keeping with the scientific and technological challenges of the new century, and with the growing demands of an expanded and changing agricultural sector. A key role of the Forum will be to exert influence in the formulation of policies that will promote agricultural development from a technological perspective. This view of the Forum considers the fact that its constituents, and the Forum itself, operate in a context of political and economic integration in the Americas and of globalization, in which it is increasingly necessary to share knowledge through networks.

The Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology
The Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology is a consortium that fosters strategic agricultural research with a regional focus and direct participation by the Latin American and Caribbean countries in identifying priorities and financing research projects. The mission of the Fund is to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector through research, thus ensuring sustainable management of natural resources and reduction of poverty in the region. the objectives of the Fund are to create a sustainable financing facility and a forum in which the LAC countries can discuss priority topics related to technological innovation, thereby strengthening the role these countries play in defining the regional research agenda.

Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research
Created in 1971, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research is an association of public and private members supporting a system of 16 Future Harvest Centers that work in more than 100 countries to mobilize cutting-edge science to reduce hunger and poverty, improve human nutrition and health, and protect the environment. The CGIAR's research agenda focuses on both strategic and applied research. This agenda includes the entire range of problems affecting agricultural productivity and links these problems to broader concerns about poverty reduction, sustainable management of natural resources, protection of biodiversity, and rural development.

International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center "CIMMYT,” which is its acronym in Spanish—works with research partners worldwide. Their work is concentrated in developing countries helping the world's poorest people. CIMMYT conducts research on two crops—maize and wheat—that provide about 25% of all food calories consumed in poor countries. Their goal is to improve the lives of the world’s poor—by ending their hunger, raising their incomes, preserving their land and other natural resources, and helping their children to a better life.

Programa Cooperativo para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Agropecuario del Cono Surransferencia
PROCISUR consists of a collaborative effort of the National Agricultural Technology Institutes of the six countries of the Southern Cone and IICA. It's purpose is to institutionalize a coordination system, mutual support, exchange of knowledge and collaborative research projects and networks related to the generation and transfer of agricultural and agro-industrial technologies.

Cooperative Program on Research and Technology Transfer for the South American Tropics.
PROCITROPICO a collaborative effort of the National Agricultural Technology Institutes of the eight Amazone countries and IICA, was founded to institutionalize a permanent system of coordination, mutual support, exchange of knowledge, and cooperative actions related to the generation and transfer of agricultural technology for the sustainable development of the South American tropical ecosystems.

Cooperative Program of Investigation and Transference of Farming Technology for the Andean Subregion
In order to assure, indeed, an abundant and agreed agricultural production with the increasing demand of foods, the governments of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela agreed upon 1986, with the Inter-American Institute of Cooperation for Agricultura (IICA) and with the financial support of the IADB, to install a farming regional program of cooperation in investigation and transference of technology, the PROCIANDINO. The Cooperative Program of Investigation and Transference of Farming Technology for the Andean Subregion (PROCIANDINO), stimulates the joint of the National Institutes of Farming Investigation (INIAs), to develop technologies jointly, to stimulate the interchange of the existing ones and to fortify the cultures of economic and nourishing superiority, in the context of a sustainable development of agriculture.
